Experience

Ms. Wu joined the Modesto office of McCormick Barstow in 2015. She was previously a Partner at Borton Petrini, LLP, where her practice primarily focused on employment law and municipal/public entity defense, including dangerous condition of public property, Section 1983 claims, DFEH and EEOC claims. Ms. Wu’s practice continues to focus on representing public entities, with an emphasis on employment and civil rights matters, including discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims,  ADA violations, and violations of the Equal Protection Clause, Due Process Clause, First Amendment and other constitutional violations. Ms. Wu is also experienced in advising private and public entities in connection with business transactions, public improvement contracts, financing agreements, and administrative law matters. 


Ms. Wu has successfully managed all stages of litigation in both state and federal court, is well versed in law and motion, and has significant trial experience. In addition, Ms. Wu has briefed and delivered oral argument before state and federal appellate courts, including the United States Supreme Court (briefing only), the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and California’s Third and Fifth District Courts of Appeal (briefing and oral argument). 

Ms. Wu is admitted to practice law in the State of California and the State of Illinois, and before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

Honors and Awards

Ms. Wu was selected for inclusion in the Northern California Rising Stars list (2016, 2017, and 2018) for her primary areas of practice in Municipal Law and Civil Litigation Defense.

Practice

Concentrating in Civil Litigation, with an emphasis on Employment Law, Contracts, and Public Entity Defense, including education and civil rights matters.

Professional Associations

Ms. Wu is a member of the State Bar of California, the State Bar of Illinois, and the Stanislaus County Bar Association.

Community Involvement

Ms. Wu is an administrative hearing officer for Stanislaus Animal Services Agency (Animal Court) and volunteers as an attorney coach for Fred C. Beyer High School’s mock trial team.
