After serving as Law Clerk to the Honorable Frederick E. Stone of the California Fifth District Court of Appeal and as Deputy District Attorney of Fresno County, Mr. Wayte commenced practice with McCormick Barstow in 1963.
Lawrence E. Wayte
Mr. Wayte has handled a wide variety of civil litigation including automobile liability, premises liability, work place injury liability, and construction claims. In the past forty five years, he has emphasized in his practice the defense of professional liability claims including legal and medical malpractice – representing attorneys, medical doctors, hospitals, podiatrists, chiropractors, and medical clinics – product liability claims including agricultural chemical matters and both motorized and stationary equipment injury claims and medical product claims. In addition, Mr. Wayte has represented professionals before licensing disciplinary boards.

Concentrating in Civil Litigation with emphasis in the defense of Professional Liability, Product Liability Claims and Matters before Professional Licensing Agencies as well as Hospital Law, and Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility.
Mr. Wayte was elected a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 1986 and is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates where he holds the highest rank of Diplomate in that organization. He served as President of the Board of Directors of the Fresno County Bar Association in 1994 and was a member of the Board for three years. From 1998 to 2007 Mr. Wayte was a member of the Board of Trustees of Community Medical Center serving as Chairman of that Board for five years. Mr. Wayte is also a member of the American Bar Association and San Joaquin Valley Chapter of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers (ABTL).

Mr. Wayte is AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated with Martindale-Hubbell. He was selected as one of the Top 100 Northern California Super Lawyers (2008) and has been recognized on the Northern California Super Lawyers list (2006-2008) for his primary area of practice in Civil Litigation Defense. In 2017, Mr. Wayte received Cal-ABOTA’s Civility Award. In 2018, he was selected for membership in the Trial Lawyers Hall of Fame by the Litigation Section of the California Lawyers Association.
