Attorney Spotlight – Jessica Boujikian
What is your practice area emphasis? Civil Litigation. I span the spectrum of elder abuse defense to family law, with tort and complex business disputes in between.
What made you want to be a lawyer? I worked for a congressman in DC and politics in general throughout undergrad and realized that the only people who ever got anything done for an
yone were the people with law degrees. Politics may be the vehicle that transports change but law is the tool that translates that change into something meaningful for real people.
What advice would you give to a new lawyer? Stick with it. Practicing law is like learning a new language, you aren’t going to master everything right away. It is going to take time, practice, and a large support system.
What is your favorite thing about McCormick Barstow? The network of opportunity and locations. We really have opportunities in a vast areas of practice and the firm encourages people to do things they are passionate about and where they are passionate about it. I am doing a lot of property work with the SLO office and get to regularly travel there and just enjoy the central coast.
Where is the most exotic location you have travelled to? During my post bar trip I travelled to Croatia and spent the day exploring the Red Keep and Kings Landing for all those Game of Thrones fans out there. In April, I get to go to Paris for a deposition for a key witness in a traumatic brain injury case. I am mostly definitely turning this into a vacation.
What is your favorite way to spend a Saturday? My fiancé and I recently purchased a house so figuring out DIY projects, like painting and decorating, and just in general making it a home (so we can be featured on MTV’s cribs) have been some of our favorites lately.
