Mr. Hawkins joined McCormick Barstow after completing law school in 1987. In 1992, he relocated to Modesto, California, to open McCormick Barstow’s Modesto branch office. He has extensive jury trial experience in the courts of the Central Valley.
Mr. Hawkins’ jury trial experience includes the representation of clients in a broad range of civil disputes, including employment, medical malpractice and general tort cases. He has been called upon to serve as a mediator in court referred and private mediations. He is certified at Pepperdine as a mediator and is fluent in Spanish.
Mr. Hawkins is admitted to practice before all California State Courts, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, and U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit.

Mr. Hawkins has been lead counsel in nearly 40 jury trials, covering a broad range of civil litigation.
Mr. Hawkins is currently a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of California, and County of Stanislaus Bar Association. He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (2000) and the Association of Defense Counsel. He is a member of the Wray R. Ladine Inn of Court and currently serves on the Inn’s Executive Board. He has served for five years on the Board of the Stanislaus County Bar Association and served as President in 2004.
Mr. Hawkins is AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated with Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Hawkins was selected for inclusion in the Northern California Super Lawyers list (2006, 2009-2023) for his primary area of practice in Civil Litigation Defense. He has an Avvo rating of Excellent.
Mr. Hawkins has served as an officer in various charitable, religious, and civic organizations, including The Gallo Center for the Performing Arts.
