Letters to Santa is a charity that is near and dear to McCormick Barstow’s heart – Modesto Partner Betty Julian serves on the Board of Directors for this amazing organization, and McCormick Barstow was a proud North Pole sponsor for this year’s annual Santa Charity Dinner held on October 25th.

Letters to Santa was established 11 years ago with a mission to bring a little Christmas magic to local children in need.  Thanks to the generosity of sponsors and donors, the charity was able to raise an astonishing $218,000 last year, and was able to sponsor 1,718 local children in the community.  Every child received a new coat, shoes, socks, undergarments, pants, shirts and a toy.  In addition, each child’s family received a turkey dinner with all the trimmings.

All of the children selected to the program are hand chosen by local teachers and school staff from schools within Stanislaus County.  Last year, the charity was able to reach 14 schools within Stanislaus County located in Turlock, Modesto and Ceres.  Once a child is selected, every child living in that same home under the age of 17 is automatically included in our program.  The families receive a Santa Bag for each individual child with that child’s clothing items and gifts and a full turkey dinner for the family to share during the holidays.

The charity also helps countless families with special food assistance and gift cards throughout the year and has helped keep power and heat on for families during the winter season.  They have donated pajamas to schools for pajama drives, donated stuffed animals to Jessica’s House and fixed their air conditioning unit, and have also provided scholarships to deserving local high school students in need.

The organization is a truly magical asset to our local community, and McCormick Barstow is proud to help in its continued mission to spread a little Christmas cheer!
